In 2013, while working at Amsterdam Zuidas, our Founder was refused a parking spot through his former employer, later discovering the cost was €1,200 per month— an astonishing 50% more than his rent. Meanwhile, unused parking spots were everywhere in indoor car parks and cities had become increasingly congested, with rising parking tariffs compounding the frustration drivers had faced for years. Something was deeply flawed in the system.

In early 2014, when Rotterdam announced its ambitious Park&Ride project costing hundreds of millions of euros, it sparked a realization that we should take action and launch our business. Convenient, affordable city parking should be readily available, especially with so many parking garages in office buildings going underutilized. It was time to reverse the wave of societal overconsumption that continually sees more buildings emerge and more apps launch. At ParkBee, we strive to be a force for good. We give space back to the cities and are deeply committed to contributing to a more sustainable future where all resources are used efficiently: building less and utilizing more.
